Course Details

Golden Horseshoe Golf Club offers 45 holes of golf designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and his son Rees. The Gold Course is the most famous of the three courses at this resort in Colonial Williamsburg. The Gold opened in 1963 and was given a thorough redesign by Rees Jones in 1998. The Green course opened in 1991 based on an original design by the younger Jones. The Spotswood course opened in 1963, designed by RT Jones on top of the resort's original 9-holer that opened back in 1947. Spotswood includes a short par 5, a couple of par 4's and a bunch of challenging par 3's.

The golf courses at Golden Horseshoe occupy a - surprise! - horseshoe-shaped bit of land adjacent to the restored buildings of Colonial Williamsburg. But this is golf with an isolated feeling - there's nothing but trees surrounding the courses.  You can find hotels near Golden Horseshoe Golf Club at TheRealPlaces.com.

Notes

Telescopic Golf Ball Retriever

Balls can be expensive. There's nothing wrong with taking a few seconds to pull a ball or two out of one of those bleeping "penalty areas".

Bionic Golf Gloves

Yeah, the name is a little goofy and they're a bit pricey. However, they're extremely comfortable and last a loooong time compared to standard-issue golf gloves.
