Change can be a good thing. Formerly just “King and Prince Beach Resort”, golf gets added this week when the former “Hampton Club” golf course reopens after a $3.6 million renovation that included a complete redo of the course’s greens. New fairways, too.
It’s not a “walk out the door of your room onto the course” situation – the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort golf course is located at the north end of St. Simons Island, about 13 miles from the rest of the resort. But they’ll provide transportation if you’d like.
The course is a Joe Lee designed championship-length course that originally opened in 1989. While it still benefited from the mix of forest and marshlands, greens, bunkers and fairways had slowly migrated from their original sizes. So the renovation was all about bringing it back to it’s original glory.
