Course Details

The golf course at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort is a Tom Fazio designed extravaganza that opened in 2005. The Wynn hotel was built on the site of the old Desert Inn and the course replaces the Desert Inn's course. Unlike the other super-high-end Las Vegas golf courses that are affiliated with major Vegas hotels, the Wynn course is right outside the hotel's back door. There are even some seriously luxurious villas on the site (with private swimming pools) that overlook the golf course.

Much like the Shadow Creek course that Steve Wynn also built, building the Wynn Resort course involved moving enormous amounts of dirt and bringing in over 100,000 plants (thankfully, they salvaged over 1,200 trees from the old course). It's not cheap, but the playing the Wynn course is one of Las Vegas's nicest high-roller experiences.  You can find hotels near Wynn Golf Course at TheRealPlaces.com.

Notes

Telescopic Golf Ball Retriever

Balls can be expensive. There's nothing wrong with taking a few seconds to pull a ball or two out of one of those bleeping "penalty areas".

Garmin Approach S12 Golf Watch

This caddy on your wrist knows distances for over 42,000 courses. We doubt that Bones Mackay can even claim to have that much knowledge. And the Approach S12 is a bit cheaper than hiring Bones.
