Course Details

Miakka Golf Club is from the "We'll take a boringly flat piece of land and we won't be afraid to spread around a lot of dirt to make it interesting" school of golf course architecture. This private club was built upon some ranch land along the Myakka River, about 20 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. The design philosophy was to create a "Florida Sandbelt" course that emulates the sandbelt region near Melbourne, Australia. The facility includes the 7,633 main course, a 1,685 yard 12-hole par 3 course, a big practice area, a putting course, a full-service clubhouse and some cottages for visitors. Miakka Golf Club is a 30 mile drive east of downtown Sarasota.
